March 23, 2012 @ 1:52 AM

How many of those "help I can't get up" personal medical alert companies make wellness calls?  I will bet that the majority of these companies provide:  equipment, water resistant pendant, and 24/7 monitoring services.  They wait until you press the button, or no motion has been detected (you haven't opened your refrigerator door, or are moving about your home), or the device senses a fall, then they alert responders on your behalf.  Sound about right?  Well, that is partly what our services are about, except we do a little more.  At USA we include wellness calls:  "Check-in with you" Wellness Call Service helps you manage health care for you, your family and loved ones.......

Computer User Basics Overlooked?

March 22, 2012 @ 12:55 AM

Yesterday, I went to a client meeting to provide a project update:  milestones, timelines, budget compliance, etc.   The discussion went from project update and analysis to:  firewalls and transparency.  Throughout the entire conversation, I never heard the words:  operator or user error, best practices, computer user manual, computer use responsibilities, computer security awareness.  No, the focus was more on the prevention of "hacking", the use of website visitor data, no mention of "maybe the reason why we were vulnerable, was because we have not reviewed employee responsibility."  We can help you assess, update, and realign company policy and user responsibility.  #......

March 21, 2012 @ 1:33 PM

The cable guys have found a new "bundle" item, in hopes of increasing their products and services value, to help support their DSL high priced Internet access services (since the Internet now supports everything), they offer:  TV, wireless access, cell phones, and how alarm system.  Some alarm packages offer "DO-IT-YOURSELF" monitoring, or the cable guys have contracted with central stations to provide 24/7 monitoring via telephone or IP address.  As an industry we have been through this before, with zero down offers and long term contracts.  Most systems then, and now, just offer coverage for up to 3 doors, 1 motion detector, and may be with some packages with special promo offers, you get an ...

Are you getting the most from your alarm company?

March 20, 2012 @ 4:37 PM

Alarm monitoring services, can be useful, or simply, "just there", an auto-pay that hits your account each month for what seems to be an eternity.  So, what are you getting, where's the value?  At a minimum your alarm system should be:  reporting at minimum a daily dialer test to make sure your system is communication to central station operators, sending open/close reports identifying who has entered and disarmed the system, who has left and disarmed the system, in addition to monitoring alarm conditions 24/7 with notifications.  IF, you are a business owner, auto-arm / disarm, may be a function that may fit in with your business operation.  #USAMonitoringServices  Dan Garcia, Service Manager,...

Integrated Electronic Security

March 14, 2012 @ 2:11 PM

Can electronic security systems be integrated?  The answer:  it depends.  In most jurisdictions required fire alarm systems are to be "stand alone" systems, not marred with other life safety systems like:  burglar alarms, card access, or camera surveillance.  If, you have been advised that your facility does NOT meet the criteria for a REQUIRED system, then integrated systems are the perfect solution.  #USAIntegratedSecurity  - Mark Stevens, IT Support, USA Security Net
